Job Title: Data Architect
Location: London - Once weekly travel to client site
IR35 Status: Outside
Anticipated Rate: £500 per day

About the Role:
We are seeking a Data Architect to establish and enhance the Data Office capability for a critical government department, ensuring best practices in data management, governance, and quality. This role is pivotal in defining and embedding data standards that align with public sector frameworks and DAMA principles. The successful candidate will lead data architecture efforts to improve data quality, governance, and compliance, ensuring sustainable and trusted data products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data architecture and governance frameworks in line with DAMA standards.
  • Define and embed data management best practices, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organisation.
  • Lead data quality and standardisation initiatives, reducing data incidents and enhancing trust in data products.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of strategic data pipelines, supporting data cleardown and compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data literacy, ensuring alignment between technical teams and business objectives.
  • Provide expertise in metadata management, master data management (MDM), and reference data models.
  • Support the adoption of cloud and on-premise data integration strategies, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in data architecture and data governance, preferably in a public sector environments.
  • Strong understanding of DAMA principles, data governance models, and data management frameworks.
  • Technical expertise in data quality, metadata management, master data management, and integration architectures.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Informatica Data Quality tools.
  • Experience in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional).
  • Familiarity with data compliance and regulatory requirements, including GDPR.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work in agile and waterfall development environments.
