JOB DESCRIPTION
I have an exciting opportunity for a fully remote, part-time Software Test Engineer to join a pioneering climate tech startup that's dedicated to helping people manage land sustainably and tackle the climate and nature crisis. They’re looking for someone who is happy to work part-time, with the flexibility to choose between 26 and 32 hours per week (3 or 4 days). You’ll have complete freedom to structure your hours in a way that fits around your personal or family commitments, like school runs or other responsibilities.
As the first dedicated tester on a small but growing team, you’ll play a key role in shaping their testing processes, formalizing automation, and ensuring the reliability of their multi-tenant SaaS platform. You’ll be working closely with their development team, enhancing existing test processes to make sure automated testing is as effective as possible. While the main focus will be on automation, they know manual testing will also be necessary, especially at the beginning as you set up and refine the processes. You’ll collaborate with developers to integrate strong testing practices within the CI/CD pipeline, identify and report bugs, and ensure the platform meets accessibility (WCAG) standards—helping the team create the best product for their users.
They’re looking for someone with solid experience in software testing and automation who is comfortable stepping in as the first dedicated QA professional. You’ll have the opportunity to choose and implement new automation frameworks, with a blank slate when it comes to tools and technologies. While they’re open to suggestions, they’re currently considering tools like Playwright or Cypress as potential options.
This is a unique chance to shape the testing strategy at an early-stage startup working to address climate and nature challenges.
Salary is anywhere from £50,000- £60,000 full time equivalent, being pro rata’d down to £33,000 - £48,000 for 3 or 4 days a week depending on the hours worked.
