Are you a Technical Lead/Senior Java Engineer who thrives in a role that demands adaptability and an explorative approach? We're looking for someone with the technical expertise and vision to lead a modernisation effort, helping to transform legacy Java applications and integrate them with their new HR system. This would be a 6 month contract that is inside IR35, although largely remote you may have to go onsite once a month in Cambridge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical integration of existing Java applications with a new HR platform
- Mentor and upskill junior engineers, sharing best practices and guiding their professional growth
- Shape the technical roadmap for these systems, contributing insights and expertise to drive impactful improvements
- Enhance security protocols and improve system testability, ensuring robust and resilient software
Ideal Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience modernising legacy Spring and Struts-based Java applications
- Strong knowledge of Docker, with hands-on experience in containerization best practices
- Familiarity with deployment to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is preferred; however, experience with AWS is also acceptable
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles and a commitment to building secure, scalable solutions
