Grid Connection Manager / Electrical Engineering

HV & MV | Solar PV, BESS & Renewables | VDE-AR-N 4110-4130

We’re looking for an experienced Grid Connection Manager / Electrical Engineer to lead grid connection activities for large-scale Solar PV, BESS and Hybrid projects. This is a key role with responsibility for both technical delivery and team leadership, covering MV & HV grid connections, substation-level electrical design, and close collaboration with DSOs and TSOs.

In this position, you will lead grid connection / Netzanschluss activities, supporting projects from early development through construction and commissioning, in line with technical regulations and EEG requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and developing the grid connection (Netzanschluss) process
• Developing technically and economically optimised grid connection solutions
• Full ownership of MV & HV grid connections for Solar PV, BESS and hybrid projects
• Ensuring compliance with VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120 & 4130 and local grid codes
• Planning and design of electrical infrastructure up to substation level, including: Substations, transition stations, transformer stations and cable networks
• Creating grid connection concepts, technical specifications and tender documentation
• Managing grid connection applications, approvals and status tracking with DSOs / TSOs
• Performing and reviewing grid studies and calculations and evaluating connection concepts
• Coordinating and managing substation projects and active assets
• Supporting project commissioning and certification processes
• Acting as the technical interface between network operators, service providers and internal teams
• Site visits and inspections when required
• Regular reporting to technical management and senior leadership

Your Profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or similar
• (or equivalent experience as Technician / Meister in grid connections)
• Strong experience in grid connection planning for renewable energy projects
• In-depth knowledge of VDE-AR-N 4110-4130
• Experience with MV and ideally HV grid connections
• Proven experience leading and coordinating technical teams
• Strong network and communication experience with DSOs and TSOs
• Experience with grid calculation tools (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®SINCAL, E-Plan)
• Structured, communicative, assertive, and able to explain complex topics clearly
• Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and the energy transition
• German language skills at C1 (or equivalent)
