SC Cleared AWS Platform Engineer | Outside IR35

You’ll be joining a high-performing platform engineering team, working on secure, scalable AWS environments that underpin modern cloud-native delivery. This role suits an experienced platform engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and helping teams adopt strong DevOps and platform engineering practices.

The Role
As an AWS Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building and operating AWS platforms used across public and private sector environments. You’ll work closely with development teams, contribute to solution design, and take ownership of platform delivery while mentoring more junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities (condensed)

• Design, build and operate secure AWS platform components

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support faster, safer delivery

• Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and managed services (EKS)

• Enable cloud-native patterns and platform adoption with application teams

• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting for operational visibility

• Create reusable templates, modules and deployment patterns

• Contribute to reliability, scalability and security improvements

• Support onboarding of new workloads and teams

• Share knowledge through code reviews, documentation and mentoring

Essential

• Strong hands-on experience designing and operating AWS environments

• Terraform experience (essential)

• Experience with Kubernetes and managed container services (EKS)

• Solid understanding of CI/CD, Git-based workflows and automation

• Experience with AWS networking (VPCs, load balancing, connectivity)

• Comfortable working in client-facing or consulting-style environments

• Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)

Desirable

• Experience with CloudFormation and/or AWS CDK

• Experience delivering cloud migration or platform modernisation work

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
