Contract BI Developer Required!

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading organisation in the energy sector for a Power BI Developer with strong semantic modelling experience. You’ll be joining a fast-paced and forward-thinking data team, playing a pivotal role in the delivery of a visualisation project that will directly support business insights and decision-making.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Power BI contractor to contribute to a high-impact initiative with a clear business value and visibility at senior levels. You’ll work closely with data engineers and analysts across the Azure ecosystem, helping build out scalable and insightful dashboards.
What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and developing semantic models within Power BI to support consistent and scalable reporting.
• Working across the Azure Data Platform, particularly Azure Data Factory, to support data pipelines and modelling layers.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver engaging, actionable data visualisations.
• Supporting the wider BI and analytics function in optimising performance, maintaining data quality, and ensuring best practices in Power BI.
• Contributing to the overall design and structure of the BI platform to ensure long-term maintainability.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Advanced Power BI development skills, including DAX, data modeling, and report/dashboard creation.
• Hands-on experience with semantic modelling in Power BI – including star schema design, relationships, and efficient model optimization.
• Strong knowledge of the Azure Data Stack, especially Azure Data Factory.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and build highly usable, insight-rich dashboards.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills and a problem-solving mindset.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Python or PySpark for data transformation or automation.
• Exposure to the energy industry or other utilities/regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices within a Microsoft Azure environment.
