The Role

We’re looking for Platform Engineers to support the design, build and improvement of secure internal platforms and engineering environments within a highly sensitive UK government setting.

This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys enabling delivery teams through well-engineered platforms, reusable tooling, automation and cloud infrastructure. You’ll be focused on creating reliable, scalable and secure platform capability that supports modern software delivery in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain secure internal platforms used by engineering and delivery teams
  • Develop reusable infrastructure, deployment patterns and automation to improve delivery speed and consistency
  • Build and support cloud-native or hybrid hosting environments
  • Contribute to CI/CD capability, release automation and environment management
  • Improve platform resilience, scalability, security and maintainability
  • Collaborate with developers, SREs, architects and security teams to deliver robust platform solutions
  • Define and promote engineering standards, guardrails and best practice across the platform estate
  • Support infrastructure provisioning and configuration through code
  • Troubleshoot platform issues and drive continuous improvement across tooling and services

Experience Required

  • Strong experience in a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar role
  • Experience building and supporting cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform, CloudFormation or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container-based platforms
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar
  • Good understanding of networking, identity/access management, secrets management and secure platform design
  • Experience with Linux systems administration and platform troubleshooting
  • Scripting or programming skills in Python, Bash, Go or similar
  • Experience creating shared tooling and services for development teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams
