We’re looking for a Communications & Engagement Lead to join a high-profile defence programme, operating at Senior Consultant level. This is a key role focused on shaping and delivering effective communications across a complex stakeholder landscape, supporting a major transformation.

The Role
You’ll take ownership of communications strategy and engagement delivery across the programme, ensuring clear, consistent messaging both internally and externally. This is a highly visible role requiring strong stakeholder management, structure, and the ability to drive engagement initiatives that genuinely influence programme maturity and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert communications and engagement advice across the programme
  • Design and deliver comms and engagement initiatives aligned to programme goals
  • Establish and manage communication protocols, cadence, and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Drive engagement across internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage the Lessons for Excellence (LfE) process and tracking
  • Implement pulse surveys to measure engagement, maturity, and continuous improvement
  • Lead communication of programme charter and facilitate quarterly ways-of-working reviews
  • Oversee knowledge management, document control, and information storage practices
  • Support social value initiatives linked to the programme
  • Coordinate and deliver ad hoc engagement events and activities

Essential

  • Active SC Clearance
  • Strong experience in communications and stakeholder engagement within complex programmes
  • Proven ability to operate at Senior Consultant level within defence or highly regulated environments
  • Experience establishing comms strategies, frameworks, and governance
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including senior and challenging stakeholders
  • Ability to travel and work on-site in Corsham up to 3 days per week

Desirable

  • Experience working within defence programmes or government transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with programme maturity frameworks and continuous improvement approaches
  • Experience running engagement analytics such as surveys and feedback loops

  • Contract: 6 months
  • IR35: Inside
  • Rate: £500- £550per day
  • Location: Corsham (up to 3 days per week on-site)
