We are partnered with a Biotech company who are on a mission to translate research from the scientific world to reality. They are tackling subjects within the cancer research, DNA Analysis & clinical trail space.

We are helping them to hire a founding DevOps Engineer to help modernise their environment. They are looking for somebody who can help introduce these methods to support this transition. The ideal person is somebody who can help guide the team with life-cycle management, basics of software development structure, dependency management, containerisation & automation.

You’ll be working alongside researchers, scientists, bioinformation’s, Data Scientists and Software Engineers. 

Day to day responsibilities:

• Guide the implementation of internal quality and reproducibility standards for SF development.
• Perform a huge migration from a major partner of theirs.
• Establishing the use of automation in the software life cycle process across different technological stacks (e.g. Gitlab/GitHub, Python/R, Nextflow/SnakeMake).
• Oversee the implementation of dependency management systems, containerisation and cloud approaches.
• Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams of developers, technicians and scientists to design, implement, test and maintain computational analysis tools and pipelines for research data from cutting-edge technologies.
• Provide training and support to ensure best practises and continuous improvement.

Must have requirements:

• You’ve worked in on premise environments.
• Worked with Containerisation tools such as Docker, Singularity or Kubernetes is a big plus.
• Knowledge of at least one of these programming languages: Python, Java or Golang.
• Working experience in Linux.
• You are passionate to improve the company SF Dev culture and add to the mission.
• You must speak English.

Bonus Skills:

• Professional experience within the life-science domain. (Biotech or Pharma space is optimal).
• Dependency management tools such as Pip, Conda, Renv etc.
• BSc/MSc Degree in a relevant field.
• Big data tols such as Spark, Arrow & Dask.
