Data Retention & Deletion Lead – Data Architect – SC Cleared

We are looking for an experienced Data Retention & Deletion Lead to support a major data modernisation programme.

The role will lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s Data Retention & Deletion (DRD) capability, establishing scalable lifecycle processes and embedding appropriate controls across the future data estate, including Databricks and cloud migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the Data Retention & Deletion strategy, standards and governance framework.
• Validate retention and deletion requirements and platform capabilities, identifying gaps, risks and recommendations.
• Establish retention registers, metadata standards, design patterns and governance controls.
• Lead data deletion and remediation activities across legacy and modern data environments.
• Ensure appropriate auditability, assurance and compliance across retention and deletion processes.
• Work with product, architecture, compliance and governance teams to embed lifecycle controls into data modernisation and cloud migration initiatives.

Key Experience

• Strong experience in data governance, retention, deletion and data lifecycle management.
• Experience defining and implementing retention policies, standards and operating processes.
• Knowledge of metadata management, data classification and governance controls.
• Experience translating regulatory and business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Databricks experience would be highly desirable.
• Experience working on large-scale data transformation or migration programmes.
