Mobile Engineer (iOS / Android) – Contract

Location: London (2/3 days per week onsite)
Contract Length: 6 months initial (likely extension through to year-end)
Rate: Up to £600 per day

We’re supporting a leading technology organisation that is looking for a Mobile Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of mobile initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who sits between architecture, engineering, and delivery. The role is not focused on writing code day-to-day, but it does require someone with sufficient technical depth to challenge engineering decisions, assess delivery quality, and guide teams towards the right technical outcomes.

You’ll be joining an environment with significant mobile project demand and multiple delivery workstreams already underway. The challenge isn’t a lack of engineering capacity – it’s ensuring delivery teams are building the right solutions, following appropriate architectural patterns, and maintaining technical quality throughout the lifecycle.

The Role

You’ll act as the technical authority across mobile delivery programmes, working closely with stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership to ensure successful execution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical oversight across iOS and Android delivery streams
• Reviewing technical direction and architectural decisions
• Supporting and challenging engineering teams where required
• Ensuring delivery aligns with agreed technical standards and best practices
• Identifying and correcting technical drift across programmes
• Translating code-level understanding into delivery and architectural decisions
• Working closely with distributed nearshore and offshore engineering teams
• Driving consistency across multiple mobile initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience delivering both iOS and Android applications
• Strong technical leadership capability across mobile engineering teams
• Ability to operate from code-level understanding through to programme delivery
• Experience making architecture and technical design decisions
• Background overseeing complex mobile delivery engagements
• Comfortable influencing technical direction without being hands-on coding full-time
• Experience managing and coordinating distributed engineering teams

Technical Profile

The ideal consultant will bring:

• Strong Android expertise with credible iOS experience
• Deep understanding of modern mobile architecture patterns
• Experience assessing technical quality and engineering practices
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to challenge constructively and drive technical excellence

Particular interest in candidates who have worked within:

• Banking
• FinTech
• Financial Services
• Regulated technology environments
• Large-scale digital platforms

Experience operating in environments where security, governance, compliance, and engineering rigour are critical will be highly valued.

• Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in London Bridge
